How to make a FB Business Page Cover Photo

You should have your background image and the new image that has the dimensions of 851 x 315px at 72ppi.
Step 4. Select your entire background image and then copy it to the clipboard using CTRL+C (CMD+C for iMac).
Step 5. Edit your new image that has the transparent background with the dimensions of 851 x 315px at 72ppi and past the larger image background into this image. This should add a new layer.
Step 6. You can then adjust the layer size or scale the new layer to be the minimum width of the smaller of the two dimensions, In this case its the height 315px. If there is some width hanging over the edge of the transparent layer or the image max size, that is ok. You also want to adjust your dimensions as a fixed aspect ratio. For instance if your original pasted layer was 1680 × 504 pixels, setting your height to 315 should set the width to 315 x 1050 px.
Step 7. Once you scale your layer you can then flatten the image.
You should have a good background now at the size that Facebook wants for the cover photo for your business page.
